August 6

  1. The Secret Life of an Occupational Therapist

    Cordon off the tub room
    At ungodly early hour
    Grab ten carted towels
    Ignore linen conserve plea.
    Supplies are essential
    Flood and fumbles lay ahead.

    Breathe deep as you approach
    To remind its shower day
    Ignore nurse gleeful smile
You chopped half her task this morn.
    Focus patient reassurance
    On bygone feel of clean,
    Gone independence, lost privacy.

    A secret play unfolds now
    On masterful stage set
    Self undress fastidious
    Gold medal vault to bench.
    Tightrope privacy between
    nakedness and help.

I’ve held this post so often
    Stoic shower curtain sentry
    Recover soap bottles flying
    Encourage confidence.
It’s a breath away to stranger
    As soft water pounds.
Grab hold of time suspended, as
    Rudiments reclaim.

    1. That's great! I'd start working toward the political aspects of the collection now too!

  2. the attic
    a place to steal away
    hidden from you
