Each month, write a new collection.
Today is a day chosen for peace. Veterans Day, commemorated on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the last gasp attempt of World War II millions, pleading for an end to all wars. Today is Martinmas, feast-day of Martin of Tours, Roman soldier beloved by many for laying down weapons, refusing violence, soldier of peace. Today is my beautiful child’s birthday, memory of that moment cradled to my breast in hushed awe, imbues my consciousness.Beautiful Vietnamese child, your anguished scream permeates all time. Your nakedness strips away skin deep charity. We fail you still; allowing our government to escalate war machines in our name; shading our eyes from refugee resources we plunder in our safe internet connected homes; shopping while corporate greed rapes your dignity.Pray for us Beautiful Vietnamese child. Scream forever in our ears. May we feel your burning flesh rip though ours until we are graced to peaceful action. Pray for us Veterans, your spirit hovering over blood spilled fields of the war to end all wars; Pray for us Martin of Tours, for courage to learn nonviolence. Pray for us birthday girl, as you scale challenges each birthday year. Be unmasked Micky and Ronald. Let's walk.
Yeah it is. It's hard to write about this kind of image. You've done so well!
