  1. THE THERAPIST: INTERLOPER

    You educate on course
    Chart the parachute
    Learn therapy routine
Practice skills to help and heal
    Value patient rapor.

You work as touchstone in crisis
    In electronic care plans
    Interlope in people’s lives
    Walk in their reality.
As they walk in your dreams.

    You complete credential study
    Precautions, syndromes learned
    Job outlook off the charts
    Dues paid to the lobby
    That protects your scope.

You retire gifted by their stories
    With heart, very full
    With ethics, strained
    Wanting thorough research
    Desiring reform.

    Your daily clients bring
    Good cause, good fun,good hours
Good pay to pad the nest.
    Doctors writing orders
    Sharing work over insight.

    You leave the profit center
    In its 15 minute slots
    Of productivity, for exercise billed
    To the nursing home patient
    Who stole your heart.

  2. p.s. I initially had this in only three stanzas, with 1&2, 3&4, 5&6 joined in the same stanza.... but apparently my trust in the reader is lacking, that they would follow?
