Music at the Fair

  1. At the County Fair

    I saw a
    cow
    And a pig
    a lady
    with a bow
    and arrow
    shooting
    a target
    from behind
    while
    bending
    backwards
    using a
    mirror
    while using
    her feet
    to shoot
    the arrow
    from the bow
    All in
    the name
    of bizarre

    I saw and I walked
    standing without a stop
    every once in a while
    taking a rest
    on an empty stoop
    or space
    While people were
    mingling and eating
    and resting their
    tired feet

    I saw a pig race
    and Chinese Acrobats
    doing the same act
    year after year
    This particular
    year
    They missed and
    the performance
    had to be done
    again
    As the clown
    put up one finger
    motioning for one
    more try
    Just in case they
    were not successful
    on the first attempt
    The flaws were
    a showing that they
    were human
    And the Master of Ceremonies
    of the silent clown
    Showed the perseverance
    of the human condition
    where practice was
    not always
    certain
    And the
    Performance
    not always the
    same
